Gtone (Thet Wai Phyo), author of the first message calling for a political orientation of hacking activities and coordinator of the “#Op Bangladesh” Closed Group has an obscure background.
Until April 2012, Gtone presented himself as Wai Phyo Aung, a military student living in Russia. Soon later, he removed any references to the military in his Facebook profile.
Gtone started his hacking activities under the Myanmar Hacker University/Unite4m group with the nick “DTown” to later join the Blink Hacker Group. He is very focus on Kachin News and everything related to the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). All his contacts seem to be connected to the Defense Services Academy.
He is very outspoken about his support to the army and often quotes information coming from Ye Htut, the incumbent Minister for the Ministry of Information and spokesperson for the President.
He is often sourcing information from “kophos” aka (That Wai Phyo), that serves as mouthpiece of the military in his Facebook account:

In an article in September 2015, Myanmar Times refers to Thet Wai Phyo (kophos) as a military serving in Myanmar Armed Forces (Tatmadaw) that studied electronics at the Defence Services Academy from 2005 to 2008.
